Year-Round Housing

The Year-Round Housing Committee was founded in 2006 to seek year-round housing solutions for Long Island residents. The seasonal and retiree housing market along the Coast of Maine and the islands in particular has wildly outstripped the ability of working folks, young and otherwise to buy into or rent year round in their own communities.

The committee sponsored a successful warrant article at the 2007 Town Meeting to allow the lease of town-owned land to eligible candidates, for the purpose of constructing year-round dwellings.

In the Fall of 2007, the Year Round Housing Application and Selection Committee convened to develop candidate selection process.
